Shauna Jacobs, PT, DPT
Manual Therapy Certified

Shauna has been practicing in Brevard County as a physical therapist since August of 2001.  Shauna graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University (FSU) in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition and fitness.  While attending FSU, she was a member of the Florida State water ski team where she competed in trick skiing, slalom skiing and water ski jumping.   After completion of her Bachelor’s degree, she continued on to physical therapy school at the University of St. Augustine (USAHS).  Shauna graduated with honors for her Master’s Degree in 2001 and continued on to achieve her Doctorate degree in physical therapy later that same year.  She also achieved manual therapy certification upon completion of her education at St. Augustine.

Shauna began her career as a physical therapist in Melbourne shortly after graduation from USA.  During her career, she practiced as both a staff physical therapist and a physical therapy department manager for several years.  Although her background is heavily focused on orthopedics and manual therapy, she developed an interest in treating patients with dizziness and vertigo and took extended coursework to further her education in vertigo related dysfunction.   She has an impressive education and has achieved clinical excellence in her specialties.

Together with her husband, Shauna helped to form PT Professionals, LLC in 2006.  It had been a dream of hers to one day open a private practice physical therapy clinic that allowed her to utilize her manual therapy techniques and extensive clinical expertise in a personal and professional setting.

Since PT Professionals opened for business in 2007, Shauna has served as the primary insurance biller for the company and handles claims for all patients.  Having a physical therapist in the billing department is an added value from a compliance perspective.  As a physical therapist, she is able to understand and translate documentation from the providers to make sure that the billing and coding is correct.  She is also able to communicate with our team of physical therapists directly about their documentation to ensure proper and ethical processing of claims.  Additionally, she is able to speak with insurance companies directly to help minimize claim denials.

Shauna is not currently involved directly with patient care and serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of PT Professionals.

Daryl Jacobs, PT, DPT, ATC
Manual Therapy Certified

Daryl has been practicing as a physical therapist in Brevard County since August of 2001.  He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama (UWA) in 1999 and graduated Magna Cum Laude in athletic training and sports medicine.  While in pursuit of his degree, Daryl was fortunate enough to train under one of the most respected athletic trainers in the field, Dr. R.T. Floyd.  It was during this portion of his education that he took a specific interest in sports medicine and sports-related injuries.

During this time, Daryl was a scholarship athlete and played competitive NCAA college baseball for his school. Daryl was the first baseball scholarship athlete to complete the full-time athletic training curriculum since the program’s inception.

Daryl then attended the University of St. Augustine (USAHS) in St. Augustine, FL where he earned a master’s and doctorate degree.  He furthered his education by achieving Manual Therapy Certification in 2001.  At USAHS, Daryl was fortunate to learn from and interact with Stanley V. Paris, one of the most noted physical therapists in the profession.

During his clinical career, Daryl has taken courses in spinal manipulation and has focused mainly on orthopedics and sports medicine.  He has been a professor at both the collegiate and graduate level in both orthopedics and anatomy and physiology.  Daryl has worked with many professional athletes, particularly Major League Baseball players, and has helped them recover from various orthopedic injuries.

Daryl has been participating with high school sports medicine outreach programs for more than ten years.   Daryl volunteers his time by providing sporting event coverage and assists with injury prevention and management, further strengthening the resources of the programs that he works with.  He provides assistance for high school football, baseball, and basketball games.  During the past ten years, Daryl has assisted with event coverage at Palm Bay High School, Melbourne High School, Melbourne Central Catholic High School and Florida Institute of Technology (FIT).  Daryl is currently assisting the Viera High School sports medicine team and is excited about the professional relationship that is forming with the school.   Daryl is a member of the Viera High School Quarterback Club and is an active sponsor of the football program.

Several years ago, Daryl developed an interest in the subject of compliance.  A compliance program uses internal controls to efficiently monitor adherence to applicable statutes, regulations and Medicare federal health care requirements.  Daryl had always believed that his interests would lie primarily in patient care, but there was a change of heart that began to become evident as he started taking courses and modifying the internal procedures of PT Professionals.  The interest was strengthened as he attended seminars with keynote speakers that were noted compliance experts.  Over the course of many years, he modified the facility operations and began to encourage a particular style of documentation that exceeded acceptable standards and measures.  He participates in small business groups and blogs that continuously discuss the changes in compliance.  All team members at PT Professionals will readily admit that compliance is important in our facility and ongoing education in the subject of compliance is part of our day to day operations.

It is because of this new-found interest in compliance that Daryl has stepped back from full-time patient care.  With regards to patient care, Daryl now functions primarily as the therapist that takes patients when our team of physical therapists have full schedules, giving patients more opportunity to be seen within a short time frame.  It has taken quite a while for Daryl to find the courage and the right mixture of team members to allow this transition to the administrative side of the business to occur, but Daryl is very confident in our staff and feels that our patients are in good hands with any of our therapists.  Daryl is still occasionally treating patients, but he has learned that he has equal enjoyment from treating patients and from keeping our facility in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Andrew is very passionate about physical therapy and enjoys addressing pain related to muscle imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns. Dr. Evan Bekes, PT, DPT

Evan joined the PT Professionals team in 2023 after moving  from his hometown of Farmington, New Mexico. He spent his first two years of undergraduate school at the University of Northern Colorado before transferring to New Mexico State University in 2015 and earning a Bachelor of Individualized Studies.  At both schools he competed in collegiate level Cross Country and Track & Field.  After graduation from NMSU he spent some time coaching his high school’s cross country team and starting a Videography business.  He then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in Colorado from Regis University in 2022.

Evan grew up around sports, dabbling in a little bit of everything including soccer, baseball, football, basketball, volleyball and running. His parents made sure that he got to experience everything as they were athletes themselves. It was through sports that he gained an interest in physical therapy. He was fascinated with the phrase “movement is medicine” and how it can be utilized in people’s lives. It was through this that he found orthopedic rehabilitation to be his passion.

Much like the focus and determination he has with sports, he applies this to his work at  PT Professionals. He is always looking for ways to build on his experience and progress as a professional. He enjoys staying current with the latest research in physical therapy and looking for ways to implement this with his patients.

These days Evan loves to stay active with distance running and racing in events and desires to eventually complete a full marathon. He is also exploring the Florida area and looking for all the places to eat. He enjoys traveling, especially for the food. Videography is still a creative outlet where he occasionally shoots and edits wedding videos.
